Snap Changes Not Good Idea

As much as I love President Trump, I'll be the first to admit that I don't agree with ALL that he does or says. The SNAP benefits program issue is one of those things that I totally disagree with when it come to the POTUS and the changes he wants to make to it.

The first thing I find disturbing is the fact that POTUS is always saying how he wants to make government smaller and not larger. However, if his plans to change the SNAP program goes through, he's making government reach larger and not smaller. I say this because the government will be in charge of what people can eat and what they can't. They will be picking out non-perishable foods and putting them in food boxes and mailing them to SNAP recipients.

This idea of sending out food boxes also makes me feel as if the government thinks that people are not capable of picking out the food they need for their own families. That's simply an insult to these people!

Something else that' disturbing is the fact that the food will be all non-perishable foods, to me this sounds like people will be only receiving food items such as:

1.) Pasta

2.) Rice

3.) Canned vegetables

4.) Canned fruit

6.) Canned meats like Spam and tuna

7.) Soups

8.) Canned spaghetti and the like

9.) Powdered milk

10.) Boxed mac and cheese

What you won't get will be fresh meat, veggies, fruit, or dairy products. How is this healthy?

Plus, does the President take into consideration of those who have dietary restrictions, especially those who are diabetic?

I simply think this boxed food program is a bad program and looks like at the expense of the health of those receiving the benefits of the program is less important than it is for saving the country money. There are other ways to save the country money, but jeopardizing the health of it's citizens is not the route to take. I have one suggestion where the country could save a lot of money immediately....completely de-fund Planned Parenthood!
